Describing Personalities

Easy-going : relaxed and not easily upset or worried 

  • Theary is an easygoing girl. She can get along with other people quite easily.
  • An easygoing person doesn't mind much. He or she is relaxed and cheerful.

Sensible  : practical, realistic, reasonable 

  • Dara is always sensible. He always has the reason to support what he says.
  • Trust her since she is a sensible person.

Selfish : egocentric, self-centered 

  • Some people are very selfish. They do not care about the other. Whatever they do is just for their own gain.
  • Most kids are usually selfish.

Silly : foolish, showing little thought or judgment 

  • Some of my friends are very silly. They make me laugh all the times.
  • This is such a silly thing to do. You are not supposed to do that.

Unfriendly : not friendly, quiet 

  • One of my teachers is very unfriendly. He never gives me a smile or talk whenever I meet him outside the class.
  • We tend to dislike unfriendly people since they make us feel bad.

Adventurous : willing to try exciting and often dangerous things 

  • Most of American people are more adventurous.
  • Adventurous person is usually fearless. They like to takes risks.

Greedy : wanting more than needed 

  • Greedy people never get enough. They wants more and more.
  • Do you have any friends who are greedy? Do you like them?

Impatient : get annoyed easily, cannot wait 

  • My little brother is impatient. He always want to get things done immediately. He can't wait.
  • An impatient person is always anxious. They cannot stay calm if they don't get things done.

Clumsy: awkward in movement or in handling things 

Reliable : truthful, honest 

wise : smart, clever, bright

tidy : neat and well organized 

stupid : foolish, silly

shy : feeling uncomfortable to talk to other people, embarrassed 

rude : impolite, offensive

polite : being nice and respectful to other people

nervous : worried and anxious:

nasty : very bad and unpleasant

moody : moods changing suddenly and they become angry or unhappy easily

mean : not willing to share anything with other people especially money, selfish

grumpy : easily annoyed and complaining

aggressive : violent, like causing trouble with other people

introvert : a person who is quiet and like to spend time alone

extrovert : outgoing, friendly, like communicating with other people.

naughty : behaving badly, misbehaved, not following what told to do

stubborn: determined to do things without listening to other people.

bad-tempered: getting angrily easily, irritable, grumpy, impatient

sociable: outgoing, extrovert

calm: peaceful, quiet, and without worry

gentle: calm, kind, or soft

supportive: giving help and encouragement

creative: producing or having unique ideas

imaginative: full of imagination and visualization

Adventurous: willing to try new or difficult things, or exciting and often dangerous 

Active: Energetic, involved, and ready for anything.

Cheerful: Tends to be upbeat and in good spirits.

Considerate: Keeps others’ feelings in mind before acting. 

Hopeful: Optimistic and has faith in a good outcome.

Motivated: Puts energy toward a hopeful outcome.

Resourceful: Has the ability to overcome difficulties in clever, skillful ways.

Sincere: Straightforward, honest, and truthful.

Supportive: Provides emotional support and encouragement to others.

Describing a person's appearance

  1. short: opposite from tall
  2. thin: opposite from fat, heavy
  3. overweight: opposite from underweight
  4. beautiful: pretty, nice to look at, cute, charming ( used to describe a woman)
  5. handsome: good-looking, used to describe a man
  6. fit: in good health, in good shape
  7. well-groomed: neat and clean in appearance
  8. muscular: having well-developed muscles
  9. weak: opposite from strong
  10. old: opposite from young
  11. middle-aged: approximately between 45-65
  12. bald: having no hair
  13. blonde hair: having light yellowish color, usually describing hair color
  14. straight hair: opposite form curly hair
  15. curly hair: wavy, curling hair
  16. wavy hair: slightly curly
  17. spiky hair: sticking straight up hair from the head
  18. tan: having brown skin after spending time in the sun
  19. pointed nose: long sharp nose
