Present Perfect Continuous
Present perfect is used to talk about the action that started in the
past and continues to the present while present perfect continuous tense is
used to describe the action that started in the past and still continues in the
present. It is formed by using have been with present participle (have/has been
+ V-ing).
Forms
Positive: Sub + have/has been + V-ing.
Ex. I have been studying English since I was 10 years old.
Negative: Sub + have/has + not + been + V-ing.
Ex. She hasn’t been sleeping since this morning.
Yes/No: Have/has + sub + been + V-ing…….?
Have you been studying English since you were 10?
Wh-Question: Wh-Word + have/has + sub + been + V-ing….?
How long have you been studying English?
I have been teaching English since 2005.
From the above example, we can see that the action of me teaching
English started in the past, 2005, continues to the present and the action of
teaching is still going on now. See more examples below.
