Short reading practice bdmclass - Tigers

Tiger

Tigers are large cats. Tigers live in a variety of places such as rainforests, grasslands, woodlands, and savannahs. The largest male tiger can weigh up to 300 kilograms and grow up to 3 meters long. Tigers are carnivores because they hunt other animals for food. The animals they eat are their prey.

Tigers like to hunt at night and they hunt once a week. They consume about 30 kilograms of meat in one night.

Most tigers’ fur is orange and white and their stripes are black. Each tiger has a different stripe pattern. They have big powerful paws and long, sharp claws. Tigers do not have any predators because they are large and strong.

In the wild, tigers can live up 15 years. When they are taken care by humans in the zoo, their lifespan is about 20 years.
